Welcome to the Center for Firearm Injury Prevention (C-FIP) at the University of Washington!

The Center for Firearm Injury Prevention (C-FIP) was established in 2019 with funding from the Washington State Legislature, building on more than four decades of firearm-related research at the University of Washington.

We believe that equitable and transformative change to prevent firearm-related harm can only be achieved through genuine partnership with those most affected by this public health and public safety challenge. In collaboration with community, research, and policy partners, we: (1) investigate the determinants of firearm death and injury at the individual, community, and societal levels; (2) evaluate the effectiveness of firearm laws and policies; (3) assess the consequences of firearm violence; and (4) develop and advance strategies to reduce the burden of firearm-related harm in our state and across the nation.
